Grant Park Security Patrol (GPSP)
Grant Park Security Patrol News

This quarter's issue of the CrimeBuster newsletter is being sent to Grant Park website members with no zip code and those in the 30312 and 30315.  Please add your zip code if you live outside the neighborhood to remove yourself from our locally focused emails.

The Grant Park Security Patrol is a separate nonprofit which provides updates at each monthly GPNA meeting.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW ZONE CAPTAINS AND COMMANDER MITCHELL
GPSP welcomes two new Zone Captains: Mary Kathryn Kaye in Zone L and Amy Martin in Zone H. Thanks to both of you for your help!  Zone 3 has a new commander, Major Reginal Mitchell. He can be reached at rmitchell@atlantaga.gov or on his cell phone at 404 273-8178.

BURGLARIES REMAIN LOW IN GRANT PARK
It is obvious from the map below that neighborhoods around us have serious problems. We are constantly adjusting patrol hours to respond as crime patterns change. For example, earlier in January there were several early evening burglaries, so we had 2 officers shift their hours. Those burglaries ceased.

SECURITY PATROL SUPPORTERS - IT’S TIME TO PAY YOUR DUES. PLEASE SEND $40 FOR THE NEXT QUARTER OR YOU MAY PAY ONLINE. IF YOU PAY ANNUALLY, GPSP WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN YOUR MEMBERSHIP NEEDS TO BE RENEWED. THANKS!!

The burglaries have remained low for the early summer period. There have been a couple of daytime burlgaries in the SW corner of the neighborhood around Hill Street and Kendrick.

There were a couple of garage-storage shed burglaries in the NW part of the neighborhood on Woodward and Grant. This shows how important it is to be alert to suspicious activity at all times and to call 911 if a situation does not seem right. GPSP’s officers monitor the APD system and will respond to Grant Park calls if they are patrolling for GPSP at the time. The recent burglaries are also a reminder to all of us to record the serial numbers of our electronics and other valuables. Being able to identify the owners of stolen property allows APD to return it and to make a case against the thieves.

Auto thefts and vehicle larcenies have been down. There was a series of vehicle larcenies on Orleans, Oakland, Grant, and Cherrokee Place. GPS system were taken in 3 of those cases.   If you own a vehicle with a high incidence of theft please take precautions such as an alarm system and/or club.

ANNUAL GPSP MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Chisty Smith has offered to serve as president.

We are switching to a calendar quarter for newsletters and invoices (January, April, July, October)

We will increase the dues to $40 per quarter.

Most of you are receiving this newsletter electronically. Hard copies are being hand-delivered only to members for whom we do not have email addresses or who have specifically asked for one. If you would like to change your method of delivery, please let us know at grantparksecurity@mindspring.com.

If you have not been getting crime alerts or newsletters, it’s possible your email address was illegible on your application form, that you have changed your address or that it was inadvertently deleted from the subdirectory. To correct this, please send an email to the GPSP address so you can be added to the list correctly.

Online payment and membership application continue to be successful. To pay your dues by credit card, go to www.gpna.org, click on Security Patrol, then follow the prompts to Pay Your Membership Online. If you prefer, you can still pay your dues by mailing a check to "GPSP, PO Box 89235, Atlanta, GA 30312"

Burglaries remain low in the areas patrolled despite high rates in the surrounding area.
