Today, electronics account for up to five percent of landfill volume and contributes up to 70 percent of the toxins found in landfills because every year newer and better products are being sold to consumers.

The goal of electronic waste recycling is to promote the recovery, reuse, and recycling of obsolete electronic equipment and to encourage the design, manufacture, and purchase of environmentally responsible electronic equipment.

The following items will be accepted at the city of Atlanta’s EcoDepot Recycling Day:

 
ELECTRONICS
 
Computer CPU’s, laptops, monitors, disk drives, floppy drives, keyboards,
modems, circuit boards
Printers, fax machines, typewriters
Televisions (fee required)
Microwave ovens
Stereos, speakers
Telephones, cell phones
Copiers, scanners
CB radios, portable radios,
Video Machines, Cameras, camcorders
CD, VCR’s and DVD Players and record players
Test and networking equipment
Electrical Panels
UPS/Battery Back-up
CD Roms
Projectors
Cables and computer mouses

PLUS
 
Paper Shredding
Prescription Drugs and OTC meds
Styrofoam

The following items will not be accepted: consoles (tv cabinets), projection televisions, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, washers, dryers, freezers, de-humidifiers or humidifiers, gas-powered equipment, household trash and NON-electronic equipment.
