Dear Artist:






The 2007 Grant Park Summer Shade Festival is currently accepting applications for its Artist Market scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, August 25th and 26th.  Sponsored by The Grant Park Conservancy and a host of business supporters, the Fifth Annual Summer Shade Festival is on track to continue its growth as one of Atlanta’s coolest events. 






The festival is located in historic L.P. Grant Park and is easily accessed from Interstate highways I-20 and I-75/85.  The setting provides a wonderful shady backdrop for the Festival.  The weekend is filled with a variety of featured events including the Artist Market, food vendors, the Adams Realtors 5K Run for the Park on Saturday morning, live performance stages, a children’s fun center and our fine food and wine event – Corks & Forks.  We anticipate 16,000-18,000 attendees during the two day festival.  Proceeds from the festival benefit the Grant Park Conservancy and its efforts to restore this historic green space.




 Advertising for the 2006 Festival was broad-based and included both broadcast (DAVE-FM 92.9 and WABE FM 90.1), print (Atlanta Intown, The Story, Atlanta Magazine, Porch Press, Atlanta Journal and Constitution, Creative Loafing, + others) and web based promotions (CraigsList, AtlantaBuzz, Atlanta Illustrated, What’s Up Atlanta Daybook, Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, + scores of others).   Plans for 2007 are to cast an even wider net to gather more media focus and draw potential buyers.






Our artist participation fees are designed to encourage early application/entry and to provide an affordable investment.  Every effort will be made to ensure variety in the market and therefore, the Festival will review all applications with regard to type, pricing, services, etc. to ensure a professional eclectic mix of original and handmade works.  Entry fee checks are not processed until the Artist Selection Committee reviews the application.  Original entry fee check will be returned to those not selected.  Since we have a limited number of 10’x10’ artist spaces available, we recommend you complete and submit your application at the earliest date listed below to take advantage of pricing and to give our Selection Committee sufficient time to review your entry. The Selection Committee meets shortly after the three deadlines listed below and artists will be notified within 30 days of the Committee meeting.   Fees for participation are:






Early Bird Application/Registration – March 15, 2007                                           CLOSED




Regular Application/Registration – May 15, 2007                                                  $200.00 + $25.00 non refund jury fee




Last Minute Application/Registration –  (if space remains) – June 30, 2007      $250.00 + $25.00 non refund jury fee




All Artist Market vendors are required to have a 10’x10’ white tent.  You may provide your own tent or request a tent from the Festival ($250 weekend rental includes set up/take down, weighting, two chairs, one six foot table; side panels can be provided upon request at a cost of $12 per side.).   Tents must be weighted on all corners to secure them in case of storm or wind.  Electricity is not available and generators are not allowed.  No staking of tents or for any other purpose is allowed.  






Please submit two checks payable to the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival and mail with the completed application/registration to 2007 Grant Park Summer Shade Artist Market, 499 Broyles Street. SE Atlanta, GA 30312.    Separate checks for the application/registration fee and the non refundable jury fee.  Cancellations or withdrawals may be requested by August 1 for a refund of application fees.  The Festival will retain a $15.00 processing fee.  No refunds are available after August 1.  Questions are welcome 404-521-0938 or [email protected]   You will be notified of acceptance to the market.  Information is available on the festival – www.gpconservancy.org.
