As more and more people call Atlanta home, Grant Park has increasingly become a place where families gather. Every great city deserves a great playground, a place where parents and children come together to have fun, to visit and to relax in a safe environment. Together we transformed the Grant Park Playground into an exciting family destination!

In September, 2001, an event that started as a Grant Park neighborhood celebration afffiliated with the annual Tour of Homes took on a new life as a fundraiser - raising $7,000 towards a playground in Grant Park. In March of 2002, planning meetings began in earnest; the committee started soliciting grants from corporate and private donors as well as hosting special events. With these efforts underway we are moving toward meeting the budgeted goal of $212,000.

This new playground replaced an approximately 20-year-old wooden structure which does not meet the needs of the community and the more than 2 million visitors to the Park each year. Nor did the equipment meet current standards for playground construction and safety.

The vision of a few residents with a sincere desire to make Grant Park a better place for all children became a reality in October of 2003.

The City of Atlanta Bureau of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, the Grant Park Conservancy, the Grant Park Parent Network, Home Depot/KaBOOM!, the Harland Foundation, Adams Realtors, BellSouth, The McKay Team of Keller Williams Realtors, and many more worked together to bring a new and improved play space to the park. The Conservancy and the GPPN worked together on design and continue to work together on fundraising, implementation and maintenance of the structure.

You can become a permanent part of The Grant Park Playground by purchasing an engraved brick that will be incorporated into the design of the playground.
