- Welcomed everyone, explained the agenda and open floor rules, and voting eligibility
- Thank you to the zoo for allowing the use of the building
- Next meeting is Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 7:30pm
- New member welcome and introductions
- Welcomed Ed Gilgor to conduct 2014 GPNA NPU Rep elections
- Motion approved unanimously to elect following reps:

- Welcomed Principal Caitlin Simms, who provided an update on Parkside Elementary
- Career week at Parkside, all are invited to share information on their careers with students
- Volunteers are always welcome

- Zone 6 update
- Zone 6 will receive 15 new police officers
- 9 burglaries have been stopped

- Katie Howard: School Updates
- ANCS football is third in its league
- ANCS will have a Holiday Program on December 12
- December 14 is ANCS day at Barnes and Nobles. A portion of sales will go to ANCS on that day.
- Parkside Elementary received a Captain Planet grant for their garden/outdoor learning center
- King is conducting a needs assessment survey, which can be found on their Facebook page
- King is starting a bike club
- Maynard Jackson held a successful Pumpkin Chunking Challenge fundraiser on November 10th
- Maynard Jackson will open new school in January. It will have a roof top garden.
- November 23 is Barnes and Nobles day. A portion of sales will go to Maynard Jackson.
- 22 Maynard Jackson students were nominated for Governors Honors Program
- Neighborhood Events Update
- Pajamas & Puppets is 2nd Thursday of each month from November through April. 5:45 pm, Park Ave Church
- Winter Wonderland is December 14.
- Volunteers are needed for Tour of Homes on behalf of GPPN
- The Halloween Parade and Picnic was a success.
- Brownie Troop 3107 won the scarecrow contest
- GPPN will have a new playgroup for children born Sept 2013 – Feb. 2014
Economic Development Committee

Land Use and Zoning Committee Chair, Rick Hudson

- Smart Growth Atlanta has filed an appeal of BZAs opinion in Fulton County Superior Court
- Go to www.smartgrowthatlanta.org to sign up, learn and DONATE to the lawyer fund
- Community wide meeting on November 21.
Historic Committee Chair, Paul Simo
- Committee will attempt to focus more on history, so it isn’t all about COAs
- Grant Park is a dual historic district, which provides opportunities for grants. Email [email protected] to learn more.
Transportation Committee Chair, Louie Ingle
- The Grant Park will obtain some bicycle racks, as part of a bicycle rack grant
Technology Committee – Report given by President, Lauren Rocereta
Open Floor Discussion:
- Many are experiencing delays in receiving mail. Concerns may be addressed at post office on Pryor Street.
- Motion to support the neighborhoods of Summerhill, Peoplestown, and Mechanicsville and the NPU-V in their efforts to support smart growth and equality at the area where Turner Field currently stands. Motion approved unanimously.
