  • Welcomed everyone, explained the agenda and open floor rules, and voting eligibility
  • Thank you to the zoo for allowing the use of the building
  • Next meeting is Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 7:30pm
  • New member welcome and introductions
  • Rob Bernier welcomed the Featured Business, My Friend’s Growler Shop
    • Explained purpose and history of a growler shop
Vice President, Jeff Rogers
  • Passed around sign-up and volunteer sheet, make sure info is correct
  • Advised new members to check in or sign in.
  • A 2014 Bylaws & Mission Statement Sub Committee will be meeting 3/9/14 at 7 pm

  • Reminder that GPNA is a 501c3 so all donations are tax deductible

  • Minutes from January 2014 meeting were presented
Public Safety Chair, Chris Newman
  • Zone 6 update
    • Lt. Wilson from the Mounted Patrol addressed concerns about a metal chain link fence at Mounted Patrol facilities.  A “Friends of the Mounted Patrol” group will be formed to help the Mounted Patrol with their needs
    • Captain McGee was introduced as the new captain.  He reminded everyone to keep their cars clean to avoid break ins
  • Officers Doney and White
    • There was an arrest in Cabbagetown for a car break in.  Suspect received a 5 year sentence

  • School Updates
    • ANCS Annual Auction, the Wonderball, to be held March 8. Click here for more info.
    • ANCS Information Sessions for Prospective Elementary Students/Families - Thursday, February 20, 2014 | 6:30 PM
    • King is offering parent workshops and student programs.  Volunteers needed
    • Maynard Jackson tours are being offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.  Please call the school at (404) 802-5200 or the Parent Center at (404) 802-5521 a few days in advance to schedule the tour. 
    • Maynard Jackson Winter Dance Concert on February 27 & 28
  • Neighborhood Events Update
    • ?Pajamas & Puppets is 2nd Thursday of each month from November through April. 5:45 pm, Park Ave Church

  • Welcomed Abbi Rebenek and Paul Simo to discuss 2014 Tour of Homes
  • Theme will be “A Stroll Through History”
Land Use and Zoning Committee Chair, Rick Hudson
  • Vacant Cherokee Lots will be cleaned and spruced up, with possibly new houses added
  • 800 Glenwood Update was held to discuss potential design plans and compromise. Ninety neighbors in attendance
Historic Committee Chair, Paul Simo
  • Name of Committee will possibly be changed to Homes & History
  • Reminder that Grant Park is in two historic districts, both local and national
  • Preservation Minute: Check your gutters after heavy rains
  • Atlanta Preservation Center to host Phoenix Flies
Technology Committee Chair, Stephanie Warner
  • Committee is working to create videos that tell Grant Park stories
Transportation
  • Atlanta Bicycle Coalition Blinkie Awards – GP received awards for having best bike shop and most bike friendly neighborhood
Parks & Recreation Chair, Marie Mower Open Floor Discussion:
  • Sign up Kroger plus card with GPNA
  • Neighborhood ISP business will be starting up (not affiliated with GPNA)
  • Trees Atlanta will be planting trees in neighborhood.  Volunteers needed.
