  • Welcomed everyone, explained the agenda and open floor rules, and voting eligibility
  • Thank you to Zoo Atlanta for allowing the use of the building for the meeting
  • Next meeting is Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 7:30pm
  • New member welcome and introductions
  • Rob Bernier welcomed April Warhola, owner of Café’ of Life Chiropractic, the featured business of the month
  • Motion to move Friends of Grant Park Pool under the Grant Park Conservancy was approved unanimously

  • Passed around sign-up and volunteer sheet, make sure info is correct
  • Advised new members to check in or sign in

  • Minutes from March 2014 meeting were presented
Public Safety Committee Chair, Chris Newman
  • APD is seeking participants for Citizen Police Academy. Course begins April 30.
  • A Citizen’s Gang Task Force aimed at focusing on proactive ways to combat crime is being planned.
  • GPNA Public Safety Committee and GPSP will plan a personal safety class for April which will involve weapons. More info coming.
  • Good Neighborhood Agreement for festival and assembly permits approved 17-3. Will now go to NPU for approval.
  • Efforts are being made to communicate with Trestle Tree management to implement improvement measures.
  • Permits for the N’ezian Fest and Oakland Cemetery Jazz Festival approved unanimously.

      • Please get an alarm for your house and register it at
      • Make sure your house is well lit, secure doors and windows, and close blinds
      • There has been a slight increase in car break ins.  Please look out for visitors to Grant Park and point out to them when they are leaving valuable visible in their cars if you see this.

    • ANCS’ annual Run with the Wolves 5K and 1 Mile, April 19, 7:15pm
    • Parkside Elementary
      • School wide Art Show - Tuesday, May 19, 2014 at 5:30 p.m.
    • Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School
    • APS has made a proposal to merge King and Coan Middle Schools. Survey to express opinion on proposal can be found here.
    • If you’d like to volunteer to help with C.A.S.H. or CFYi workshops or want more information please email Angelique Dumas Edwards at [email protected]
    • You can register your Kroger Plus Card to support the following local 501(c)(3) organizations: GPNA, GPPN, all local schools
    • Schools can also receive money from the following merchant cards when you register them: Publix, Kroger, Target and Georgia Natural Power under their True Blue Schools Campaign. Signing up is free.
