ZOO ATLANTA BOARD OF DIRECTORS FORMS NEW DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION COMMITTEE

ATLANTA – July 11, 2019 – Zoo Atlanta announces the formation of a new Board of Directors committee that will be focused specifically on one of its core values. The new Diversity and Inclusion Committee will take Zoo Atlanta’s existing commitment to equal opportunities to a new level by identifying exciting new ways to incorporate diversity across all aspects of the organization.

Zoo Atlanta has for many years held diversity as one of the core values that defines who we are as an organization and as an internal culture. As an organization that also deeply values innovation, it is important that we not merely capitalize on our strengths, but that we also proactively seek out opportunities to become even stronger in those areas,” said Raymond B. King, President and CEO. “We are excited to be taking a new step forward in promoting inclusion as a hallmark of everything we do at Zoo Atlanta.”

Launched in summer 2019, the Diversity and Inclusion Committee will aid the Board of Directors in fulfilling its responsibilities as they relate to diversity and inclusion and corporate social responsibility. Areas of focus will include but will not be limited to the Zoo’s commitment as an equal opportunity employer and its commitment to meeting its supplier diversity goals. Members of the committee will also leverage their own networks to facilitate introductions to diverse suppliers and individuals interested in advancing the Zoo’s mission.

“Diversity is at the heart of Zoo Atlanta’s organizational values. The Zoo constantly upholds and seeks to foster a culture of continuous improvement in its talent development, business opportunities and relationship with its community,” said John Ripoll, Senior Vice President and Wealth Advisor, Southeast Region, Wells Fargo Private Bank and Chair of the Zoo’s Board of Directors. “I am very proud to see Zoo Atlanta take such a proactive step in taking these values to the next level with the incorporation of this important new committee.”
